11/23/2015
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Chiefs Rhonda Kirby and Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer are travelling to Edmonton, Alberta, to participate in a conference entitled ‘Community Engagement: the Next Generation.’
The goal of the conference is to enhance participants’ capacity to effectively hear the voices of those they serve and learn key strategies to mobilize them toward a collective impact.
“We have to take every opportunity to improve our ways to engage the community and look at new ways of doing things, including taking advantage of the new technologies that are available to us,” said Chief Kirby. “The community is changing and we need to be ready to embrace the changes, rather than fear them.”
The conference, which is being conducted by the Tamarack Institute, runs from this Tuesday through Thursday.
