KLCC announces resubmission of Kahnawake Family Homes Law into Community Decision Making Process

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission (KLCC) wishes to announce that it has received the request for resubmission of the Kahnawà:ke Family Homes and Matrimonial Interests Law (‘Family Homes Law’) into the Community Decision Making Process (CDMP). The request was accepted today and the Family Homes Law has now officially been entered into the Regular CDMP as a ‘Type I’ piece of legislation.
The request was submitted on 25, Kentenhkó:wa/November 2015 by Clinton Phillips, who has been the Council Chief responsible for this legislation, which was formally passed into law on 27, Kenténha/October 2014 and brought into force 8, Tsothóhrha/December 2014. This was the first legislation to use the ‘Urgent Process’ provisions within the CDMP.
Chief Phillips has been made aware of the acceptance.
