Agenda set for Grand Chief meeting with Premier Couillard

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that the agenda has been set for the upcoming meeting between Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton and Quebec premier Philippe Couillard scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 27 Tsothohrkó:wa/January 2016 in Quebec City.
In accordance with a telephone discussion this morning between Grand Chief Norton and Premier Couillard, the MCK expects that agenda will include the following matters:
- The Relationship between Kahnawą:ke and Quebec
- Legislation (Highway 30/Bill 85 and other legislation)
- Taxation issues
- Other Ventures (Kahnawą:ke Sustainable Energies wind energy and other potential projects)
I appreciated that our conversation today was open, direct and respectful, said Grand Chief Norton. It is clear that the urgency of the current situation demands a meeting as soon as possible, and were pleased that the agenda reflects the issues we face jointly.
