Information Session on former Kahnawake Dumpsites

03/14/2016

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to inform the community that the Environment Protection Office will be holding an information session targeted towards community members living near three sites that have been identified as former dumpsites on the Territory.

The meeting will take place on Wednesday, March 23 at 7pm at Mohawk Legion Branch 219. Letters have been sent to select land holders in the immediate area of the former dumpsites inviting them to the meeting but all community members are welcome to attend.

Participants will be invited to listen to a presentation and review poster boards with key information about the former dumpsites. This will be followed by a question and answer period.

The identified sites have been monitored by Environment Protection Office staff over the last twenty years to classify the types of pollutants on the sites and to track the movements of groundwater around and adjacent to the sites.

Please contact the Kahnawake Environment Protection Office at 450-635-0600 for more information.
