Freezing rain warning for Kahnawą:ke overnight Thursday
03/24/2016
The Emergency Preparedness and Planning Department (EPP) of the Public Safety Unit would like to ensure that community members are prepared in the event of freezing rain conditions, which are being predicted for this evening (Thursday) and lasting throughout Friday morning.
The area could see as much as 15 millimeters of ice accumulation and may cause electricity interruptions if lines are damaged. In the case of a power outage, please contact the Hydro-Quebec outage reporting line at 1-800-790-2424. This hotline will also provide an estimated time when power is restored for your area, should it go out.
It is advisable not to drive while the icy conditions are in effect. However, some may have mandatory travel arrangements with the upcoming holiday weekend. Please be cautious of icy road conditions and of other drivers.
Visit the Environment Canada website to follow forecasts and weather warnings or call the EPP at 450-632-0635 for more information on winter preparedness.
