Major work announced for Mercier Bridge this summer

04/08/2016

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke has been informed by the Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) that major work on the Mercier Bridge is upcoming for the summer, between June 24th and the end of August.

For these eight (8) consecutive weeks, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction for the entire period.

Mitigation measures related to traffic, public transport and trucking will be setup by the JCCBI.

The final portion of the deck replacement on the federal section of the bridge will be completed this year. The replacement of nearly 78 precast concrete panels on three access ramps from the South Shore will extend the life of the bridge by 75 years.

Road users can consult the JCCBI’s new website at www.jacquescartierchamplain.ca to stay informed on scheduled roadwork on the Mercier Bridge.

The MCK reminds the public that these works are subject to change due to weather conditions, operational constraints or work progression, and that it does not take part in the scheduling or cancellation of such works.
