The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that its Finance Administration and Operations (FAO) Committee has provided financial support to the following local initiatives from January to March 2016:

$18,000.00 was allocated to the FAO for donations for the fiscal year 2015/16. As of March 31, a total of $13,328.78 was expensed and the remaining balance of $4761.22 was returned to the MCK General Fund. As of April 1, 2016 a new budget of $15,000.00 is allocated for the 2016-2017 fiscal year.
The FAO Committee oversees and governs the administrative, operational and financial affairs on behalf of the MCK. Among its many responsibilities the Committee receives and approves donation requests, making decisions based on consultation and collaboration with proponents, while respecting financial limitations. Donation approvals are based upon the MCK Donation Policy and Procedures, which generally has a maximum contribution of $500 (exceptions for events of essential nature can be made). Donations must benefit the Community.
The FAO Committee is made up of three Council Chiefs and one MCK staff member. The current committee is comprised of Chiefs Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer, Arlene Jacobs and Kenneth McComber, and Employee Representative Andrea Montour (only the Chiefs have a vote in decisions). FAO meetings are observed by the Executive Director and Executive Financial Officer, who take part in discussions but have no vote. The FAO Committee is accountable directly to Chief and Council.
