Chiefs attending 37th AFN Annual General Assembly

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton and Rats�nhaienhs Clinton Phillips will be attending the 37th annual Assembly of First Nations general assembly being held in Niagara Falls, Ontario from Tuesday, July 12th to Thursday, July 14th.

The agenda includes such topics as Moving Beyond the Indian Act; the National Inquiry on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls; Education; Land Rights & Claims; Economic Development; Public Safety & Policing; and Languages. Federal Environment Minister Catherine McKenna will be present for a presentation/discussion on Climate Action and Environment.

The chiefs are expected back in the office on Friday, July 15th.
