Severe storm downs trees and causes flooding

The Emergency Preparedness and Planning Department of the Public Safety Unit is reporting that at 12:41pm, a severe thunderstorm with high winds caused debris on roads in Kahnawà:ke and downed some trees. Heavy rain also caused temporary flooding on low lying roads until storm drains could catch up.
What to do after a storm:
• Never drive through a flooded roadway.
• Stay away from storm-damaged areas to keep from putting yourself at risk from the effects of severe thunderstorms.
• Continue to listen to K-103 for updated information or instructions, as access to roads or some parts of the community may be blocked.
• Clean up any debris which may have come from your property (items from your porch, recycling or garbage bins, etc).
• Report any down trees to the Town Garage 450-632-5825
• Report any power outages to Hydro Quebec at 1-800-790-2424
• Help people who may require special assistance, such as infants, children and the elderly or those with access or functional needs.
• Stay away from downed power lines and report them immediately.
• Watch your animals closely. Keep them under your direct control.
