Consensus reached on section 21.1 at Membership Law Hearing, agenda set for meeting next week

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission (KLCC) would like to inform the community that consensus was reached on section 21.1 at last evening’s Hearing on proposed amendments to the Kahnawà:ke Membership Law.
Sec. 21.1 deals with Suspension and Revocation (related to Kanien’kehá:ka of Kahnawà:ke) and contains four (4) clauses. The proposed amendments in this section were accepted, with one addition for consistency in Section 21.1 d) the use of the term ‘on the Mohawk territory of Kahnawà:ke’. Consensus was declared on each clause, though one person objected to 21.1 c.
The next Hearing, which will be the 17th meeting in this First Hearing phase of the Community Decision Making Process, will take place next Tuesday, 4 Kenténha/October 2016 from 6pm to 8:30pm at the Golden Age Club.
