Essential Snow Removal Program for Elderly and Disabled returns

The Client Based Services (CBS) Unit (formerly the Social Development Unit) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce that the Essential Snow Removal service for low income elderly and disabled community members will be in operation from December 1st, 2016 to March 31st, 2017.
The snow removal program is intended for low-income community members without able-bodied relatives to assist them. The service will provide access to residences for emergency services by clearing of the driveway and/or walkway and steps. The program is accepting a limited amount of clients. Previous clientele will need to re-apply for this service.
Application forms can be picked up at both the MCK main reception and the Client Based Services Unit, located at the Services Complex. Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, November 4th at 4pm. No applications will be accepted after this date.
All Kahnawa’kehró:non on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for the service:
A physically disabled individual or a person 65 years of age or older who:
• Lives alone with limited income and little or no extended family; • Has a medical problem (either short term or long term); or • Has no family to look out for their well–being.
All applications will be reviewed by a selection committee. Applications may be submitted by mail to the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke, PO Box 720 Kahnawà:ke Mohawk Territory or delivered to the CBS Office.
