AFNQL chiefs in Akwesasne for three days of meetings

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that Ratsénhaienhs Clinton Phillips is in Akwesasne to attend the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec & Labrador Chiefs’ Assembly taking place today through Thursday.
Agenda items include Taxation Issues; Specific Claims and Additions to Reserves Policy; Relations with Quebec; Consultation; Economic Development; Health & Social Services; Education; Public Security and Women’s issues.
Among guests who are expected to participate or speak at the Assembly are Montreal Mayor Denis Coderre, Quebec Native Affairs Minister Geoffrey Kelley and Regional Director for Indigenous & Northern Affairs Canada Luc Dumont.
The Assembly will be held at the Akwesásne Mohawk Casino Resort. Ratsénhaienhs Phillips is expected back in the office on Friday.
