Peacekeepers undergo drug testing
11/08/2016
The Kahnawake Mohawk Peacekeepers would like to inform the community that all Officers, Dispatchers, and Administration have undergone drug testing for the use of illicit substances.
As the Kahnawake Mohawk Peacekeepers work as first responders in the best interest of the community, the safety of our Officers and the community is paramount.
The tests were administered by Medysis, the medical specialists in this area, at the Peacekeeper Station on October 11, 2016.
“In our testing, which was carried out through blind-testing methods, three Officers and one On-call Dispatcher tested positive” Chief Peacekeeper Dwayne Zacharie stated. “Those Officers who tested positive have since received disciplinary sanctions. I can also confirm that one Officer has been dismissed and we have terminated the relationship with the on-call dispatcher” added Chief Zacharie.
As is the case with all Human Resource issues, the names of the parties cannot be disclosed and specific information regarding the test results will remain confidential.
