Four Chiefs attending AFN Special Chiefs Assembly and AFNQL Assembly

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that four Chiefs are in Gatineau, Quebec for various meetings at both the provincial and national level.

Ratits�nhaienhs Joseph Tokwiro Norton, Gina Deer and Kahsennenhawe Sky-Deer are attending the Assembly of First Nations Special Chiefs Assembly. Agenda items include the National Inquiry into Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls; the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; Energy Issues; and Climate Action and the Environment. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will address the Assembly tomorrow.

Rats�nhaienhs Clinton Phillips is participating in meetings with the Assembly of First Nations of Quebec & Labrador, which are being held concurrently.

The Chiefs will return to the office on Friday.
