MCK publishes Open Letters in local newspapers

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to announce that it has purchased ads in the two local newspapers as a notice to remind Kahnawa�kehr�:non of their obligations regarding the Kahnaw�:ke Membership Law.

The MCK once again reiterates the position that the community clearly continues to support the eligibility requirements in the law and, more specifically, the original principles of the 1981 Moratorium on Mixed Marriages and subsequent legislation.

Additionally, a notice to those non-Indigenous persons not eligible to reside in Kahnaw�:ke has also been published.

Both notices have been published in the form of open letters. The letters appear in a full-page ad in today�s Ior�:wase. The same letters are scheduled to appear in next week�s Eastern Door. Following that, the letters will be placed in the local mailboxes.
