History of Certificates of Possession the next focus in Land Use consultations
03/13/2017
The Lands Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke is pleased to announce that the history of Certificates of Possession (CP′s) will be the focus of next phase in the 30-week community consultations on a future Land Use Plan.
Over 6,000 CP′s exist in Kahnawą:ke, which has had both positive and negative effects on our land base in relation to home and land maintenance, private business development, land tenure, landlocked properties, lack of zoning in the Community and the overall decision-making authority on our lands.
The 30-week information and consultation campaign aims to get Community feedback on what can be done collectively about these issues always with the future generations in mind.
Focus Groups on this issue are being held on Thursday, March 16th and Tuesday, March 28th.
