03/16/2017
The Public Safety Commission (PSC) of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to advise the community that the results from public consultations conducted in September 2016 concerning the use of Route 207 are now available at www.kahnawake.com . A safety survey was conducted with residents and business owners on Route 207, as well as a heavy truck and car count operation in September and October (2016) to provide a comprehensive report on traffic issues regarding the use of Route 207.
The report also compiled the number of tickets issued by the Kahnawake Peacekeepers and the rate of speed of both cars and trucks during a two week period.
The initiative was a result of a Chief and Council directive requesting the PSC conduct an investigation due to community concerns over safety and road usage stemming back to May 2016.
The PSC compiled the data collected and provided recommendations to Chief and Council on November 14, 2016. Click here to view the report .
Questions on the report can be directed to the Public Safety Office at 450-635-0635.
