MCK to consult Community on Electronic Gaming Devices
04/18/2017
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that it will begin a process of consulting the Community on the possibility of regulating the operation of Electronic Gaming Devices in the Territory.
The MCK has responded to a proposal it has received from local businesses and has taken the position that it supports the project in-principle. Further, the MCK states that, if regulated in a proper manner, this type of project could become a fairly stable revenue generator and benefit the community on a long-term basis.
A community consultation process is being developed and will be announced shortly and the Kahnawake Gaming Commission has been asked to explore what potential regulations could look like.
Electronic Gaming Devices are defined as electronically operated machines that are used for games of chance.
