Make Kahnawake Stop tomorrow

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke wishes to remind the community that a safety awareness campaign regarding Stop Signs will take place once again tomorrow (Friday, 19 Onerahtohkó:wa/May)  throughout Kahnawą:ke.

‘Make Kahnawą:ke Stop,’ was created due to concerns that some drivers failed to obey stop signs. Special concern was raised regarding school zones, where significant numbers of drivers either slowed down or did rolling stops – neither of which are safe, acceptable or legal.

Community members are encouraged to participate from 10am to 12 noon by gathering near various stop signs to help ‘remind’ drivers to make complete stops.

The Kahnawą:ke Peacekeepers will be participating in this initiative, which was started by community member Timmy Norton in 2015.
