05/23/2017
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK), through its involvement with Ivanhoe Cambridge of Montreal, has been invited to commemorate and represent the Mohawk presence in Tiohtià:ke (Montreal) by choosing an artist to create a piece of artwork for the new ‘modern concept’ Manuvie Building located between boulevard de Maisonneuve West and rue Mansfield in the downtown core.
Artists are asked to provide a two-dimensional concept of their vision of the artwork. The actual artwork to be selected should have measurements of 710mm in height and 1,045 mm in length. The deadline to submit the proposal is this Friday, May 26, 2017. The selection is expected to be announced two weeks after the deadline.
The selected artist will be chosen by a committee of three community members with an artistic, cultural background:
- Steve McComber
- Ka’nahsohon Deer
- Ietsénhaienhs Christine Zachary-Deom
Following the selection process, Ivanhoe Cambridge will work with the artist to produce and finalize the artwork.
