The Lands Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawą:ke is publishing the results of a survey to collect feedback on the creation of a future burial site in Kahnawą:ke launched in March 2017.
A combined total of 138 people completed the survey either online or in person. 95% of participants agreed Kahnawą:ke needs a new burial site for all Kahnawakehró:non, while nearly half of the people who took the survey were opposed to a future burial site in Tioweró:ton.

"Were still very far away from the reality of a new cemetery in Kahnawą:ke, but this is a good start," said Land Use Planning Coordinator Cole McComber. The feedback found in this survey shed some much needed light on this matter and will no doubt benefit land use planning for our Territory moving forward.
The survey is one of several consultation activities taking place as part of a 30 week extensive community information and consultation campaign to address major land-related issues in Kahnawą:ke.
