Dangers of unattended blow up pools
07/21/2017
The Public Safety Unit and the Child Injury Prevention Network have received several calls from concerned community members regarding the dangers of easily accessible and unsupervised blow up pools.
Several reports indicate that these pools do not have proper safety barriers in place that prevent small children from climbing in and possibly drowning. While inconvenient, emptying the pools when they are not in use is a safer alternative to the risk of a fatal tragedy. For any incident, the pool owner would be liable.
Community members are advised to install safety gates to prevent access, or to empty the pools when not in use. Safer alternatives to keep cool and entertain the kids are sprinklers or the new Splash Pad park near the rink on River Road.
