Peacekeepers warn of telephone scam

The Kahnawake Mohawk Peacekeepers (KMP) wish to warn the community of a telephone scam that has been recently reported.

Community members have been receiving calls from the following number: 1-800-477-9205. It consists of a recorded message advising the received that there is a problem with their Bell Canada account, and that the person should call back the number to sort out the problem.

The Kahnawake Peacekeepers wish to advise the community the Bell Canada does not conduct business in this manner. The Peacekeepers are warning Kahnawa�kehr�:non that the scammers are looking for account numbers and personal information. Do not respond to the number under any circumstances.

Community members who need to contact Bell Canada should only do so by using the legitimate number (310-BELL). Bell Canada is aware of the situation.
