MCK announces major extension to Recreation Path
08/02/2017
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce an important extension of the Recreation Path network.
A new section will be built from the area of the Hospital Ballfield, along the St. Lawrence Seaway and connecting with the path near the Golden Age Club. This will allow for access to an unbroken recreational route from the Elders Lodge to the Services Complex. The path also includes a route on Tekakwitha Island.
“This will connect both ends of the Kahnawà:ke village and benefits the majority of the Community and hopefully encourages more use of the Recreation Path” said Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton. “This is certainly something we can all celebrate.”
The path will not encroach on any private property.
Work will be carried out by the Capital Unit and is expected to begin in late August or early September. More details will be released shortly.
