MCK formalizes mandates to improve how it operates

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) would like to inform the community that formal Unit Mandates, including the Executive Office, have been approved by Mohawk Council Executive Directive (MCED) at the June 26th Council Meeting.

In 2012, the MCK conducted a comprehensive organizational review with the goal of designing a structure that would improve how the MCK operates. It determined the need for a structured and standardized work environment. Official Unit Mandates were developed as a result of that review.

"Unit mandates provide the management, staff and community with a clear understanding of the scope, authority and responsibilities of a particular Unit," stated Executive Strategic Officer Richard Basque. "It provides a structured foundation for managers to further develop their management authority and accountability; accountability to the Council of Chiefs and to the community."

The Unit mandates will be re-evaluated at the beginning of the next Chief and Council term and coincide with the entire three year term.
