Call for Tioweroton Committee Community Representative

The Lands Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to inform the community that it is seeking a member to sit as a Community Representative on the Tioweró:ton Committee.
Interested applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria: • be eighteen (18) years of age; • be on the Kahnawake Kanien’keháka Registry; • possess interest and knowledge of the Tioweró:ton Territory; and • attend monthly and seasonal Tioweró:ton Community Meetings.
“The recent resignation of the Kahnawà:ke Community Representative resulted in a vacancy for the remaining two year term, which ends in November of 2019,” stated Tioweró:ton Coordinator Tara McComber.
Interested community members must submit a letter of intent to the Tioweró:ton Coordinator outlining their desire to participate on the Committee. Letters must be submitted by 4 pm on Friday, October 6th.

A vote for the potential candidate will take place at the Kahnawà:ke Services Complex from 9 am to 2 pm on Thursday, October 12th.
Additionally, a reminder that the Tioweró:ton Community Meeting Picnic is scheduled for this Saturday, September 23rd from 11 am to 2 pm at the second bridge in Tioweró:ton. Food is free of charge. Please bring a chair.
