SplashPad receives new donated fence
09/20/2017
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is pleased to inform the community that a fence for the protection of the new SplashPad and the safety of its users was installed earlier today.
The fence and the costs for its installation were donated by Bee Williams and family. The donation was announced at the official opening of the SplashPad in August. The family is also donating restroom facilities, which will be constructed at a later date.
“We owe a big ‘Niá:wen’ to the Williams family for their generosity,” said Ratsénhaienhs Carl Horn. “The entire project – from the SplashPad to the basketball court – has been funded by community businesses, organizations, and individuals. I am proud to be associated with this project that has seen the building of solid partnerships, all in the name of giving back to the community.”
The MCK would like to acknowledge everyone who had a part in organizing this successful project, especially the coordinator Mackenzie Whyte. All sponsors are listed on the weatherproof sign located at the park.
