MCK sends condolences as community loses young persons
10/13/2017
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to offer condolences to the family, friends and acquaintances of the young people who have been tragically taken from us during the past seven days.
“This is an extraordinarily sad time for all of Kahnawà:ke,” said Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton. “We have had several persons pass into the spirit world in the past week. One was my aunt, who was 93 years old and had lived a long and productive life. But, while death is part of the circle of life, it is always much harder to deal with the loss of persons who are in the so-called prime of their lives.”
“All of us at the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke share in the sadness that has descended on our community,” he added. “At times like this we become more aware of the frail nature of life. We sincerely hope that it brings some comfort to all of the families and friends of those we have lost to know that they are not alone in their grief at this most difficult time.”
