Suspect charged in connection with fatal accident

The Kahnawake Peacekeepers have filed charges against the 21-year-old driver involved in yesterday’s fatal accident on Veterans Boulevard.

The suspect, who is currently being held at the Riviere Des Prairie detention facility has been charged with two (2) counts of dangerous driving causing death, three (3) counts of dangerous driving causing injury, two (2) counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing death, three (3) counts of failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing injury, two (2) counts of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death, three (3) counts of impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing injury.

The suspect is expected to appear in Longueuil Court on Monday.
 
Update on the injured
 
Victim #1
18-year-old female from Chateauguay remains in critical condition with severe head and neck, and other injuries. Though heavily sedated, she is responsive.  
 
Victim #2
18-year-old female from Chateauguay remains in intensive care at the Montreal General Hospital with a fractured spine, internal injuries, and will require additional surgery.
 
Victim #3
19-year-old female from Chateauguay, sustained a fractured arm, cuts, and bruises.
 
Out of respect for the victims’ privacy, the Kahnawake Peacekeepers will not be releasing the names of those who were injured.
