Second Womens Meeting being held on Wednesday
11/14/2017
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to advise the women of the community that they are invited to attend a second ‘Women’s Meeting’ being held tomorrow (Wednesday) from 6 to 9 pm at the Golden Age Club.
The agenda, like the first meeting, will include two guest speakers who will share their knowledge on key community issues.
In the second half of the meeting, the women will finalize a short-term plan to commemorate Kahnawa’kehró:non, especially the young people who recently lost their lives. The women will also begin discussions about their group’s future direction and purpose.
During the first meeting, the women began to share what was on their minds, and they made recommendations on much-needed community change for building love, trust, and healing in our families for our children. They also indicated the need for further discussions regarding the involvement of youth and men in this process.
The MCK is supporting this initiative and has agreed to assist in informing the public of this important gathering.
