Working Group to host Business of Cannabis Information Gathering Session
11/27/2017
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke wishes to advise persons who are considering opportunities in the licensed production and/or distribution of legal Cannabis that a special information gathering session is being held on Wednesday, 6, Tsothóhrha/December 2017.
“While no decision has been made on whether or not Kahnawà:ke will participate in the production or distribution of legal cannabis, it is important that we explore the possibilities on the horizon in light of Canada’s impending legalization of the product,” said Ietsénhaienhs Rhonda Kirby, who holds the Cannabis file along with Ietsénhaienhs Gina Deer. “We are quite aware that a number of people are interested in getting involved in the industry, so we felt it was best to meet to discuss the possibilities, and the challenges that we would face should the community agree to pursue this direction.”
The information session will take place from 1 to 4 pm at the Legion Hall.
“This meeting is specifically for those considering participating in the industry to express their views and to share information, ” Ietsénhaienhs Kirby added. “Legalized Cannabis is coming to Canada regardless of what Kahnawà:ke feels, so we feel it is best to be prepared to explore the opportunities that may arise in the near future.”
