Mock Session this Saturday

01/07/2008

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawá:ke is inviting community members to another “Mock Session” of the new Community Decision Making Process to be held this Saturday, January 12. The session will take place in the Community Room at the Peacekeeper’s station from 9am to 3pm. Lunch is included.

“Time is of the essence,” said Chief John Dee Delormier. “We expect the first proposed law to use the Process to be announced shortly. The November Mock Session was a success, but there were suggestions to hold sessions on weekends and evenings as well.”

Once again, community members will be seated in three groups to discuss a non-existent law. The session will be used to familiarize people with the Process. “Practice makes perfect, and that’s exactly what this is: an opportunity for all of us to get familiar with a process that puts decision-making back into the hands of the people,” said Chief Delormier.
