Responsible Recycling - Unacceptable Items cause delays

01/05/2018

The Waste Management Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to remind residents of the need to follow the ‘acceptable materials’ guidelines for items deposited in the 360L recycling bins.

Only items described in the list of ‘acceptable materials’ should be placed in the bins:

  • Glass bottles & jars
  • Metal cans & containers
  • Plastic Containers
  • Plastic bags (wrapped together)
  • Milk & Juice Cartons
  • Newspaper & Paper products (Cardboard is for special collection)
The list of acceptable and non-acceptable materials can be found online at kahnawake.com/wastemanagement or on Facebook by searching “recyclinginkahnawake”.

Unacceptable materials deposited into the bins for collection by the recycling truck can damage or jam the vehicle and cause delays in service. Please recycle responsibly and be cautious of what goes into the 360L bin.

If you have questions, please contact the Waste Management Department at 450-632-5825.
