MCK announces new Facebook Page

02/07/2018

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw:ke (MCK) is pleased to announce the launching of its new Facebook Page today. The Page is designed to provide up-to-the-minute news and information from the MCK to the community in one easy location.

The new MCK Facebook Page will provide Kahnawa′kehr:non immediate access to every press release and public service announcement, audio and video release, poster, emergency warning, and more, as they are released.

The previous MCK Facebook page was discontinued due to lack of manpower as MCK Public Relations could not keep up with the number of incoming questions and comments, and began to post items on Facebook through a third party, Kahnawake Busy Bee. Further, due to the high risk of possible viruses, MCK employees are physically not able to log onto Facebook from their workstations. Until this point, any existing MCK Facebook pages have been managed by employees who volunteer to do so from their personal accounts.

"This is a great initiative because it will allow the MCK Public Relations Unit to post and manage the Page directly from their offices," said Alana Goodleaf-Rice, MCK Executive Director. "Although it wont be possible to answer questions and comments immediately, general statements can be provided at a later time to address some of the questions and concerns posted."

The new MCK Facebook Page can be found by searching Mohawk Council of Kahnawake or MCKahnawake on Facebook.
