$1.7 Million Dividend Officially Declared

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke would like to clarify information released to the community last week. On Friday, 25 Tsothohrk�:wa/January Onkwawista Limited, which holds a 40% interest in Continent 8 Technologies PLC on behalf of Kahnaw�:ke, officially declared a dividend of $1.7 million to the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke.

The dividend was not unexpected; these monies have already been pre-budgeted and allocated to the following organizations/projects: 1) Kateri Memorial Hospital Center renovation/expansion project, 2) Kanien�kehaka Onkwaw�n:na Raotitiohkwa, 3) Kahnaw�:ke Fire Brigade, 4) Kahnaw�:ke Survival School renovation/expansion, 5) Library operations and new building preparation, 6) Sports Complex refrigeration system repair/replacement, 7) Kahnaw�:ke Youth Center.

�These own-source dollars are used for projects that would have otherwise been difficult or impossible to fund,� said Grand Chief Michael Ahr�hrhon Delisle, Jr. �We cannot stress how important it is to create and maintain this type of income that allows us more flexibility in addressing the community�s needs.�
