MCK Housing Rent to Equity program accepting applications

The Housing Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is now accepting applicants for the Rent to Equity Housing Program. The program allows participants to rent a home while saving for a mortgage down payment for future homeownership. The program is intended for lower-to-middle income Kahnawa’kehró:non who might otherwise find it impossible to make the necessary down payment on a mortgage loan. The MCK will match up to 50% of the participant savings contribution towards a down payment. Eligibility Criteria:
- All applicants must be listed as a member on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry.
- Must not already own a house or have ever owned a house.
- 21 years of age
- Employed full time for a minimum period of three (3) years.
- No outstanding debts to MCK or other organization
- Good credit history

The deadline to apply is Friday, March 23rd at 4 pm.
