Kanienkehaka of Kahnawake Law Second Hearing continues next Tuesday, April 3rd

The Kahnawà:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission (KLCC) would like to inform the community that the second meeting of the Second Hearing for the proposed amendments to the Kanien’kehá:ka of Kahnawà:ke Law (formerly known as the Kahnawà:ke Membership Law) will continue next Tuesday, 3 Onerahtókha/April 2018 at the Golden Age Club.

The agenda will be as follows:

  • Definitions to revisit: Common-Law Relationship, Iah te-Onkwehonwe, Kanien’kehá:ka Lineage
  • Definitions (not yet viewed in second hearing): Onkwehonwe, Onkwehonwe Lineage, Regulation, and Reside
  • Registrar
  • Administrative Tribunal
  • Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry
  • Review of Registrar Decision
  • Community Review Board
  • Application for Recognition
  • Adopted Children

The Hearing will begin promptly at 6:00pm and end at 8:30pm. Copies of the Draft Law, as well as Records of Discussion from previous Hearings are available online at www.kahnawakemakingdecisions.com.
