Reminder � Kanienkehaka of Kahnawake Law Second Hearing continues tonight

The Kahnaw�:ke Legislative Coordinating Commission (KLCC) would like to remind the community that the second meeting of the Second Hearing for the proposed amendments to the Kanien�keh�:ka of Kahnaw�:ke Law (formerly known as the Kahnaw�:ke Membership Law) will take place this evening (3, Oneraht�kha/April 2018) at the Golden Age Club.

The agenda will be as follows:

  • Definitions to revisit: Common-Law Relationship, Iah te-Onkwehonwe, Kanien�keh�:ka Lineage
  • Definitions (not yet viewed in second hearing): Onkwehonwe, Onkwehonwe Lineage, Regulation, and Reside
  • Registrar
  • Administrative Tribunal
  • Kahnaw�:ke Kanien�keh�:ka Registry
  • Review of Registrar Decision
  • Community Review Board
  • Application for Recognition
  • Adopted Children

The Hearing will begin promptly at 6:00pm and end at 8:30pm. Copies of the Draft Law are available online at www.kahnawakemakingdecisions.com.
