Miller Decision available, added to Community Meeting agenda

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to advise the community that the Miller v. the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke Superior Court Decision has been added to the agenda of next week’s Spring Community Meeting.
As stated yesterday, Chief & Council will meet with the MCK’s Legal Services team to review the decision and report to the community.
“It is important for people to avoid jumping to conclusions or unnecessary action,” reminded Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton. “We are making the Decision available to the public in order to avoid misinformation from circulating. We are asking that people familiarize themselves with the correct information. In the coming days we will provide a summary of the decision
Please note that the judgment does not mean that non-Natives will now be permitted to live on the Territory. The court refused to issue an order stating the Plaintiffs be declared Members or that non-Natives have residency rights.
