Grand Chief to Meet with Ministers in Quebec City

Grand Chief Michael Ahríhron Delisle, Jr. is in Quebec City today for a pair of meetings.
The Grand Chief will meet one-on-one with Quebec Native Affairs Minister Benoit Pelletier this evening. This is a follow-up meeting to the one held in Kahnawá:ke last month, in which Minister Pelletier hand delivered a letter to the Grand Chief, recognizing the need to return land to the community, and expand the community’s land base and borders.
“We will discuss the Minister’s letter, and see just how Quebec fits into our current negotiation process on the Seigneury with the Federal Government,” said Grand Chief Michael Ahríhron Delisle, Jr.
The Grand Chief, along with Chief Kenneth McComber, Mike O’Brien, Director of the Social Development Unit and Melanie Gilbert, Interim Coordinator of the O.C.C will also meet with Quebec Labour Minister David Whissell. The afternoon meeting will focus on establishing a working relationship with Kahnawá:ke and recognition of Mohawk Self Insurance.
