Household garbage does not belong at the Transfer Depot

06/11/2018

The Waste Management Department of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke would like to remind the community to use the Door-to-Door Garbage Pickup Service for household waste.

Items picked up curbside are:
•    Upholstered Furniture
•    Mattresses
•    Large outdoor plastic toys
•    Household Garbage
•    Large plastic items
•    Pool liners
•    Old fencing

The community pays $75 per ton when waste is collected by the garbage truck and anywhere between $400-$800 per ton when disposed through the Transfer Depot. To avoid a wasted trip, find out what items are accepted by calling the Transfer Depot directly at 514-249-0961 or the Waste Management Office at 450-632-5825. Check for update posts at “recyclinginkahnawake” on Facebook.

Additionally, the Waste Management Department regrets to inform the community that the construction bins at the Transfer Depot are currently at capacity. The company that manages the bins will have them emptied by the end of the day.
