Excess Water in Kahnaw�:ke

The Public Works Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke would like to advise the community that due to the high amounts of recent rainfall and warm temperature, homes could be affected by basement flooding.

To reduce the risk and prevent flooding of your basement, please take the following into consideration:

1) Ensure your sump pump is properly functioning and is turned on.
2) Have a secondary sump pump in case the primary pump fails, or have a battery operated sump pump in case of a power outage.
3) Ensure your drains are clean.
4) Keep your eaves troughs clear of any debris.
5) Ensure you are covered for flooding with your house insurance, in case of a worst-case scenario.
