Fieldwork at North Wall this week
08/08/2018
The Kahnawą:ke Environment Protection Office (KEPO) would like to inform the community that field work will be occurring along the North Wall and in the St Lawrence River today and tomorrow (August 8 and August 9).
KEPO staff will accompany two technicians from WSP for the duration of the fieldwork. The fieldwork is part of the Mercier Bridge construction project and will be done to characterize the habitat as well as inventory species.
For the aquatic survey, two boats will be taking part in the work and will collect information on the flow of the river. They will also be laying traps at the bottom of the river to capture micro invertebrates for the species inventory. The traps will be in place for approximately three (3) weeks and then will be removed to catalog the species present.
Birds and snakes will also be surveyed.
If you would like more information please contact the Kahnawą:ke Environment Protection Office at 450-635-0600.
