Ratsénhaienhs Harry Rice off to Hawaii to coach in international soccer tournament

08/10/2018

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that Ratsénhaienhs Harry Rice will be leaving for Hawaii this weekend to fulfill his duties as Coach with the National Indigenous Football Association (NIFA), bringing sixteen (16) girls from Kahnawà:ke  to participate in the Waipio Cup international soccer tournament in Waikiki.

His commitment to coach the team was made well in advance of the recent Mohawk Council Elections, where he gained a seat on Council. Rice is in his 18th year of coaching soccer. He has been involved with NIFA since 2014.

“I think we’re all pretty excited,” said Rice. “This event is giving our girls the opportunity to be exposed to excellent competition with people from around the world. And our girls get to visit Hawaii!”

The actual games will take place from August 17th to 19th.

Ratsénhaienhs Rice is scheduled to be back in the office on August 30th.
