Reminder for Community Information Sessions for proposed Kahnawake Cannabis Control Law

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to remind the community that information sessions are scheduled for the proposed Kahnaw�:ke Cannabis Control Law for tomorrow (21, Sesk�ha/August) and next Tuesday, 28 Sesk�ha/August.

The meetings will be used to explain the rationale for the proposed legislation, the current draft of the law with community feedback changes, and the upcoming Community Decision Making Process (CDMP) hearings.

�Canada�s legalization of cannabis is on our doorstep and, as a community, we have to move forward with legislation that will leave control of the situation in our hands and not that of Canada and Quebec,� stated Iets�nhaienhs Rhonda Kirby earlier. �We believe the latest draft meets our needs, but we still need to meet with the community before we begin work in the CDMP � the actual legislative process.�
