Recreation Path to be extended 207 to JoJos Nursery

08/31/2018

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake is pleased to announce that the Capital Unit will begin construction of a new recreation path starting on Monday September 17, 2018.  This project is being carried out to support the Shared Vision Statement developed by our community.  To reach our collective goals, we need to provide the necessary infrastructure.  This undertaking is one step towards our envisioned future.

This work will actually link two existing paths and create a continuous route for our community members to enjoy.  This new section will run from Route 207 (north of the 138 access ramp) to JoJo’s Nursery (on the north side of the Route 132/138 service road).  If you require any further information about this project, please contact the Capital Unit at 450-635-1016.

The MCK Capital Unit typically sends information on upcoming works closer to the scheduled work date. However, there are some personal possessions on the property that need to be removed in order for works to take place, so the Council of Chiefs wanted the information out sooner.

"The lands designated for the path are not on private property," said Ratsénhaienhs Carl Horn. "Individuals with personal possessions on the lands designated for the recreation path have until Monday, September 10th to remove their possessions," he concluded.

Your patience and understanding throughout this project is greatly appreciated and we apologize for any temporary inconvenience.
