MCK Portfolio assignments announced

The Mohawk Council of Kahnaw�:ke (MCK) wishes to inform the community that the MCK Portfolio assignments for the 2018-2021 term were announced at Tuesday night�s Summer Community Meeting.

A new format has been instituted for this term, which includes fifteen (15) portfolios.  All eleven (11) Council Chiefs act as leads in at least one portfolio. 

It should be noted that certain subjects no longer have specific portfolios. Instead, they have been included in larger general portfolios that are designed to better reflect a team philosophy in addressing issues. Two examples of high profile portfolios that fall under broader portfolios are Membership and Seigneury of Sault St. Louis (SSSL). These subject matters are now included in the Community Social Affairs portfolio (Membership) and the Indigenous Rights & Research portfolio (SSSL).

�The new system was created to ensure that work is now spread more equitably,� said Grand Chief Joseph Tokwiro Norton. �There is a tremendous amount of work that needs to be done and we all agree that using a new system that ensures the teamwork approach is a very progressive move.�
