CALL FOR TWO (2) TENDERS Essential Snow Removal Program for the Elderly & Handicapped 2018-2019 Winter Season

This service is intended for low income elderly and disabled community members without any able-bodied relatives to assist them in providing access to residences for emergency services.
The service includes snow shoveling of the driveway and/or walkway & steps for fifteen (15) individual clients to commence December 1st through March 31, 2019. The MCK will pay the Contractor fee in the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) per month for the four (4) month season.
Tender packages can be obtained from Reception at the Client Based Services Office (next to Post Office) beginning Monday, October 15, 2018. Tenders should be submitted no later than 4pm on Friday, November 9, 2018.

Guidelines and Responsibilities
- Must be available seven (7) days a week and on-call 24 hours a day, including holidays
- Required to work once the snowfall has reached approximately 4 inches/10 centimeters.
- The work to be provided includes shoveling the driveway, walkway, porch and steps to the door, and wheelchair ramp if necessary. The walkway leading up to the door must be at least four (4) feet wide. Footpath width only is not acceptable.
- Snow removal is to be done within a maximum of five (5) hours beginning at 8am, earlier when necessary.
- In the event of a heavy snowfall, it will be required to work more than once per day, as many times as necessary until the storm is over. A cleanup may be needed after the town plows have passed and caused buildup at the foot of driveways and walkways.
- The contractor is required to investigate any additional client request made through the Snow Removal Coordinator at any time.
- The Laborers will be provided with and is responsible for MCK property issue safety vests and are not for personal use.
- Salting of the walkway/steps is not included in the service. However, the Laborer will provide this service upon request and only if the client provides the salt.
