Essential Snow Removal Program for Elderly and Disabled returns

The Client Based Services (CBS) Unit of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) would like to remind the community that the deadline to apply for the Essential Snow Removal service for low income elderly and disabled community members is Friday, November 16th at 4pm.
The snow removal program is intended for low-income community members without able-bodied relatives to assist them. The service was created to provide access for emergency service personnel by clearing entryways such as ramps, stairs and/or driveways. The program accepts a limited amount of clients, previous clientele must re-apply for this service each year. The program will operate from December 1st, 2018 to March 31st, 2019.
All Kahnawa’kehró:non on the Kahnawà:ke Kanien’kehá:ka Registry who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for the service:
A physically disabled individual or a person 65 years of age or older who:
• Lives alone with limited income and little or no extended family;
• Has a medical problem (either short term or long term); or
• Has no family to look out for their well–being.
Applications must be submitted to Caroline McComber and/or Lacey-Jo Canadian at the Client Based Services Unit (located at the Services Complex) no later than Friday, November 16th at 4pm. No applications will be accepted after this date.
