Feasibility Study Results for proposed Multi-Purpose Building

11/06/2018

Forwarded on behalf of KORLCC

The Kanienkeh:ka Onkwawn:na Raotitihkwa Language and Cultural Center (KORLCC) and Turtle Island Theatre would like to announce that it will be presenting to the community the results of the Feasibility Study for the proposed Multi-Purpose Building that will house the Cultural Center, Theatre and Museum.

In a community-wide vote and consensus meeting held in June 2018, overwhelming support was given for the Feasibility Study to continue and be completed after the testing had been stopped due to opposition to the proposed site on SLS 11, adjacent to Kahnawake Survival School. Testing continued, and the Feasibility Study was completed and met a new designated deadline.

A presentation took place on Monday, November 5th to the KORLCC Board, Turtle Island Theatre Board, and Chief and Council. The first presentation to the community will be on Thursday, November 8th at the KORLCC Annual General Assembly at 7:00pm, where all community members are invited and encouraged to attend at the KORLCC Library.

The date for the second presentation to the community is Wednesday, November 21st at 6:00pm at the KORLCC Library, with two future presentations planned, but not scheduled at this time. Hard copies of the Feasibility Study are available at KORLCC for community members to view, review and make suggestions and comments. Community members are encouraged to stop by to review or simply ask questions.

For further information, please contact Lisa Phillips at KORLCC 450-638-0880 ext. 69234 or Trina C. Diabo at MCK, ext. 50278.
